New London ChessFest

Saturday July 28

Chess festivities 9am-5pm. New London's historic downtown Union Plaza Parade. Lectures by chess masters. Chess Tournaments for adults & junior players. Win trophies and cash prizes. 4 games; 10am, 11:30, 1:00, 2:30.

4 Round Swiss System (no players are eliminated) in 3 sections:

Open: Entry Fee $40. Prizes: $300-1st, $200-2nd, $100-3rd b/20 in section.

Amateur: (under 1600 USCF) EF $40. Prizes: $300-200-100 b/20 in section.

Junior: (high school & younger) EF $20. Prizes: $150-75-40 b/20 in section.

Sections may be split, at TD discretion, based on entrants.

Tournament registration begins 8:30 & ends 9:30 sharp. All contestants (including advance entrants) must be present by 9:30. Please allow yourself plenty of time to arrive & register. Lectures by chess masters 9:30-10. Chess Tournament 10 AM.

Please bring your chess set (& chess clock if you own one). Time Control is G/30 (Thirty minutes per player per game) for rounds 1, 2, & 3. Director at his discretion may apply accelerated pairings in rounds 1 & 2. Fourth round (finals) is G/60. Membership to USCF not required, this tournament is not USCF-rated.

I-95 Exit 84-s, toward Downtown New London. Playing area is plaza at end of Bank St & State St. Short walk from downtown parking garage for cars, an Amtrak train station, a bus depot, & ferry boat to Long Island, Block Island, & Fishers Island.
